Welcome to our Community Co-design Associates programme

The Community Co-Design Associates (CDA) programme offers an opportunity for members of the community like you to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our neighbourhoods over the next 12 months.

Below you will find information about the role and how you can apply.

We are looking for up to 15 residents to undergo specialised training in understanding and designing places, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to serve as community advisors on the project. Together with Sovereign Network Group, Sovereign Hill Partnership and the wider team, you will help establish a set of principles for Buckskin and South Ham and inform decision-making processes. You do not have to any background or any understanding of design or architecture. You just have to be a resident with a passion to help your community. In addition to training, we will also remunerate you for your time.

As a Community Co-Design Associate, you will:

  • Attend training sessions so that you have a background knowledge and skills to contribute to working sessions.
  • Attend working sessions where you'll have the opportunity to share your unique perspectives, engage in productive discussions, and contribute to the emerging principles and designs for the project.

  • Collaborate closely with the team to co-design and test ideas, ensuring that they resonate with the wider community.

We are asking that you can commit to attending all training and working sessions to get the most out of the programme.

"Co-design” refers to a participatory approach to designing solutions, in which community members are treated as equal collaborators in the design process. Co-design is a well-established approach to creative practice, particularly within the public sector.

We will provide training so that you can contribute to conversations and working sessions. This will include training from the different project teams from architecture to communication specialists.

To ensure the best results and consistency, Associates will be expected to attend all three training sessions and the six working sessions.

In addition to this training, you will gain skills in:

  • Presentation skills and public speaking
  • Group work and decision making

  • Community networking and collaboration

  • Exploring how to apply skills elsewhere

In addition to this training, we will remunerate you for your time.
